About the Series


Anthems and Acres is a musical TV series based in Atlantic Canada, that pairs diverse local talent with iconic outdoor locations. Each episode features live performances in Atlantic Canada’s unique scenery, and intimate interviews with the artists to provide backstory and document their creative process. This season features performances by Marian, Sadie, Loveover, Kaya, Lazermortis, and Joshua Smids.

Episode 1 – Marian

Marian is like something from the mid-seventies – a sound & style rooted in the same iconic spirit of song-bands from yesteryear. With big chords, and wide swaggering grooves, Marian has grounded themselves as true-to-form rock n’ roll. This episode features Marian performing at the scenic Lighthouse River Centre in Hampton, New Brunswick.

Episode 2 – Sadie

Sadie is a bottle-rocket of an artist, from Saint John, New Brunswick, whose voice could have been attained through a deal done at the crossroads. This episode features Sadie performing in the beautiful scenery of the Hillside Trail, near Rothesay Netherwood School in Rothesay, New Brunswick.

Episode 4 – Kaya

Kaya (she/her) is a singer/songwriter based in Atlantic Canada. She uses her voice, chaotic scribbles in her journal, and her musical instruments of choice as ways to process what life has thrown at her and convey her life experiences. Her ultimate hope is that listeners will find something familiar in her music and some commiseration with what life has given.

Episode 5 – Lazermortis

Lazermortis is a full time funeral director and embalmer by day and an 80’s inspired synthwave/outrun artist by night. Lazer fuses her passion for career and her love of retro synths – creating a unique atmosphere blending organic and artificial life. In this episode, Lazermortis performs on the tarmac of the Saint John Airport.

Episode 6 – Joshua Smids

Joshua Smids creates dreamy colorful trance fingerstyle soundscapes, mixing ambient, atmospheric, droning sounds, and heartbeats into soundscapes using the harp guitar. In this episode, Joshua performs in Queen Square, an urban park in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The Crew

Anthems and Acres was produced by Industrial Parks Collective, a community-based producer of creative projects that reflect the diverse narrative of the Atlantic Region. Amelia Bailey

Assistant Director

Amelia Bailey (she/her) is a Saint John photographer, writer, and interdisciplinary artist with a passion for local music. In 2022, she created and began publishing First Listen Zine, which focuses on shining the spotlight on Maritime musicians. She also works part-time as a freelance concert photographer and music manager.

Raven Blue

Director, Co-producer

Raven (he/him) has been making experimental films and music from an early age and has a devoted affinity for taking photographs in his own neighborhoods. Raven brings a background of 25 years in music, film, design, and community arts programming.

Marc Gosselin

Co-Producer, Audio Engineer

Marc (he/him) has been in the entertainment business for over 30 years working in production. His extensive experience covers a wide spectrum of work, including instructing recording arts in post-secondary, studio production, live audio mixing, broadcast production, touring director and most recently video production/editing.

Angelina Guseva

Camera

Angelina (she/her) was born in Moscow, Russia. Spent 4 years in South East Asia. As a kid she fell in love with photography, and started taking it seriously. She enjoys many genres: macro, abstract, portraits, product, and my favourites are street photography, experimental, film and fine art photography, with B&W being her main theme.

Nick Leblanc

Camera

Nick LeBlanc (he/him) is a Filmmaker and Musician hailing from Saint John, New Brunswick. Nick’s love for filmmaking stems from his passion for shooting live music productions. He has worked with a long list of musicians over his 13 years in the industry such as Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Our Lady Peace, Matt Andersen, Sloan, Crash Test Dummies, Hey Rossetta!, and Don McLean to name a few. His work has also carried into Documentaries, Television, Corporate/Commercial, and Feature Films.

Cait Milberry

Associate Producer

Cait (she/her) has worked with some of the best marketing agencies, startups and small businesses, musicians and bands, non-profit organizations, celebrities, music festivals and more. Cait is the Co-Host, and Co-Creator of an award-winning podcast with Cherise Letson called Strange Grooves, which discusses records, music memories, life on the road and life’s deep cuts.

Avery Theriault

Camera

Avery (he/him) is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Saint John. Avery has been sharing his art and music with the local art scene for nearly a decade. During this time his paintings have been featured in local art galleries and he’s performed with his projects Ava Strange and Internal Night on stages all over eastern Canada. Avery has worked in various business and arts positions such as digital marketing strategist, marketing coordinator, guitar instructor, and audiovisual assistant.
